Prayer Request....

Good Afternoon. We have a prayer request for today. Issac has had some bleeding from the site where his canulas(tubes going into his neck) are. Basically, this has been happening for the last few days but now it is more significant and they have been giving him blood which is just taking the place of what bleeding is occurring in his neck. We would ask you to pray that God would stop his bleeding in that area and to give the doctors wisdom as to what to do. They have placed some kind of surgical glue around the site to help stop it, so prayfully that will help. They have also changed his antibiotic to cover more so that he will not get an infection in that area. Thank you for you prayers and support. We are so appreciative of all of them. God Bless!
Todays photo is of some of the nurses that have been taking care of Isaac since he came to Georgetown and actually even while he was at Bethesda. On the right is Joan who escorted Isaac from Bethesda the day Isaac was born. She is a skilled Nurse Practitioner who was just as concerned about Isaac as I was when I first saw him. Lori was still recovering when I first saw him in the NICU after he was hurried away from the delivery room and at that time things looked really grim and it was up to Joan to stabilize him for the trip to Georgetown. What a pro she is and even more important she was able to ease our grief a little. Have not seen her in awhile but she might be on vacation or something. On the left is Mary Anne (hope I got the spelling right) who is probably one of the most senior ECMO nurses that is taking care of Isaac right now. She works only two days a week and when she does she works those days back to back with the next weeks days so she ends up working four days in a row. Please pray for her as she is out of town dealing with a death in the family. She has been a real source of encouragement to us. These nurses don't have to talk to you, and some don't, but I think most of them got into nursing because they care and they became specialized in NICU because they a heart for infants. It's amazing, we are so blessed by God.

Hi Joe and Lori! I am one of Isaac's ECMO nurses. We met in the early days and have spoken on the phone, but since I am one of the night owls, we don't have to opportunity to see each other as often. I have had the pleasure of taking care of Isaac several times, most recently over the last 3 nights (which included his first Thanksgiving). I just wanted to let you know how much of a fighter we all believe him to be. He was able to "entertain" Cheryl and I in the early morning hours this morning (Saturday ~4am) and I thought I would share this with you. We decided to change a few of his blankets and "clean" him up as much as we could. During all of this, he woke up and was looking around with big, bright eyes. He was so responsive to our voices and would follow us around with his eyes (which as you know, his movement is very limited). So, we took turns getting closer to his face so he could look and listen. He was so content and so happy. Isaac settled and was very calm as we stood talking to him. At that point, he looked (at least to me) the best that I have seen him in several days. He was awake and active for quite a while before finally drifting back to sleep. So even during the times when there seem to be so many ups and downs, I want you to know that there are periods of very bright spots for him. All of you will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Even though we are "Isaac's nurses", please let up know if there is anything at all we can do for any of you to make this journey a little more tolerable!

Thank you for the wonderful testimony that you all are to us during this time. We know that Isaac is well taken care of by all of you. It is a great blessing to us and we know our little boy is fighting each day!!! God has made him very strong. Thank you for your compassion and love towards him even in the wee hours of the morning.
